Heaven is For Real

I read the book "Heaven is For Real" over the weekend and just felt compelled to tell everyone I know to GO OUT AND GET IT!

It will absolutely grow your faith and change your life.

Colton is a little 4-year-old boy who left his earthly body and went to heaven for 3 minutes during an emergency appendectomy several years ago. There are many amazing stories that he tells and I can't retell them all, but the chapter that got to me the most was one titled, "Two Sisters."

For a little background, Colton's parents had one daughter (Cassie), then miscarried a child at 8 weeks, then had Colton several years later. Colton was only four and had never been told about the miscarriage, although to his parents, the wounds were still sore. Both Colton and his older sister Cassie were blonde and looked exactly like their dad. Their mom, a brunette, always joked that it wasn't fair for her to carry the children and them turn out to look nothing like her.

One day, several months after his trip to heaven, out of nowhere he plopped down in front of his mom and said, very bluntly, "Mommy, did you know I have two sisters?" His mother did not connect at first and thought maybe was Colton was confusing his cousins or playing a game, but it did not take her long to figure out that he was not confused at all. He asked, "Didn't you have a baby die in your tummy?"

While he was in heaven, Colton tells his mom, a little girl ran up to him and hugged him, excitedly telling him that she was his sister. Colton said she looked exactly like Cassie but with dark hair. Through her tears, his mom tells Colton that she hadn't known the baby was a girl. She was thrilled to hear that her baby girl was okay. When she asked him what her name was, he told her that she didn't have a name. He said, "She can't wait for you and daddy to get to heaven so she can finally have a name." Talk about a reason to hurry up and get to heaven!

I was so encouraged by this book and highly recommend it to anyone who needs a little boost in their faith... It will change the way you see the world and serve as a wonderful reminder that this world is not our home!
