Sunshine

This weekend was a fun one.

We started out with Darius Rucker and Brad Paisley on Friday night. We fell in love with them back in Chicago (remember this post?), and couldn't resist going back to see them when we realized they were coming to Columbus.

(Why did the CMA entertainer of the year come to Columbus, GA?)

Although it was not nearly as cool as the Chicago amphitheater... we were much closer to the action, and this time we had a camera!

Perhaps the most exciting thing of the whole weekend was the WEATHER!

Let me just stop and say, I have been absolutely d.y.i.n.g. for some spring weather.

It is always very cool for to me to see the little ways that God speaks reassurance to me at just the right time. He knows my heart, and he knows just how much I can take. He also knows how to give me personal encouragement when I need it most, little pieces of His love that I can tangibly feel.

This weekend, He gave us some sunshine.

Saturday we spent all morning working in the yard, then put on our shorts and flip-flops and met our friends Michael and Kelli to grill out on the hill during the baseball game. A perfect day.

Sunday... we were back.

And after two solid days of sunshine and baseball, I felt completely rejuvenated. It was such a gift.

Before I go... another story from today at work. I spoke to a veteran's wife on the phone and worked out a few problems for them, then hung up, and while I was working on his orders, I realized that I had one more question for her. When I called her back, she answered and said, "Mrs Anderson, I have been sitting right here in my chair praying for you ever since you hung up the phone a few minutes ago. You have just been such a blessing to us. I hope the Lord blesses you today."

...and THAT is why I love my job. This sweet little 80-year-old woman challenged me to stop and pray for the people I encounter on a day-to-day basis. We just don't know how badly they might need our prayers and encouragement, or what a difference we could make in their day just by giving them a few extra minutes of our time and showing them a bit of sincerity. It is a very rare and special gift that we can give others... and I was so grateful for her words this morning.
